Terms and Conditions

Paper Scissors Squad
Last updated: 02/09/2026

Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before booking a class with Paper Scissors Squad. By booking a place on one of our classes, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

If anything here is unclear, please contact us before booking — our details are below.

1. Who We Are

Paper Scissors Squad is a sole trader business run by Carol-Anne Gardner, trading as Paper Scissors Squad.

Address: 21 Coppice Road, Lordswood, Chatham, Kent, ME5 8RJ
Email: Paperscissorssquad@gmail.com
Phone: 07460 411141
Website: https://paperscissorssquad.co.uk/

Copies of our Public Liability Insurance and relevant qualifications, including our Enhanced DBS and Safeguarding Level 3 certification, can be found on our Legal & Info page.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information, including information collected about your child.

2. What These Terms Cover

These Terms apply to bookings for our children’s craft, art and STEAM classes, made through our website using WooCommerce and Stripe.

They don’t currently cover the sale of physical products. If we begin selling products through the website, we will add separate terms to cover that.

3. Who Can Book

Anyone with parental responsibility for the child, or another adult authorised to book on the child’s behalf, such as a grandparent, guardian or childminder, may make a booking.

If you are not the child’s parent, by booking you confirm that you have the parent or guardian’s permission to do so, and that you’re authorised to provide any consents required, including for medical treatment in an emergency and photography.

Our classes are generally aimed at children aged 4–12, split into two age groups:

  • 4–6 years

  • 7–12 years

These groupings are a guide rather than a strict rule. If you think a different group would suit your child better, or you’d like siblings placed together, please contact us before booking to check availability.

4. Parent/Guardian Presence During Classes

4–6 years: a parent or guardian must remain on-site for the full duration of the class, as Paper Scissors Squad is not a registered childminding service.

7–12 years: parents/guardians may drop off and collect, or stay if they prefer.

5. Prices, Payment and Booking Confirmation

Class prices are shown on our website at the time of booking.

Classes may be booked as single sessions, or as a block, for example a 6-week term, 12-week term, or annual booking, where we run regularly at a fixed venue such as a school.

We may introduce membership packages in future, which will carry an additional charge and additional benefits. Details will be published on the website when available.

Full payment is required at the time of booking. We do not currently offer deposits or payment plans.

Payments are processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your card details.

Your booking is confirmed once payment has been successfully processed.

6. Cancellations and Refunds

We want our cancellation policy to be fair and easy to understand.

If you need to cancel:

Block bookings such as term, 12-week or annual bookings are non-refundable once booked.

Single-session bookings cancelled less than 48 hours before the class are non-refundable, but we will do our best to offer an alternative date where possible.

If your child cannot attend a particular session within a block booking, no refund is given for that session, but we’re happy to send you details of what was covered so your child can try the activity at home, where materials allow.

If we need to cancel or reschedule a class:

If we cancel or need to rearrange a class, for example due to illness, weather or venue availability, we will offer you either an alternative date or a full refund — whichever you prefer.

If a class doesn’t have enough children booked to run:

We will offer you either an alternative date or a full refund.

Transfers:

Block bookings may be transferred to a different date, time or, with our agreement, a different child, by prior arrangement with us.

Please note: because our classes are leisure activities delivered on a specific date, the standard 14-day “cooling-off” cancellation right that applies to some online purchases does not apply to class bookings in the same way. The cancellation terms above set out your rights with us instead.

7. Class Sizes and Staffing

Class capacity varies by venue and age group.

If demand for a class exceeds the number of children we can safely and legally teach alone, we will look to add an additional class date/time, or arrange for an additional staff member, rather than turning families away where possible.

8. Arrival, Lateness and Collection

Please arrive in good time, as late arrival may mean your child misses instructions for that session’s activity.

We will always do our best to include a late-arriving child, but if too much of the session has passed, they may not be able to complete the main activity. They’re still welcome to stay and take part in a quiet alternative activity, such as drawing or reading, for the remainder of the session.

Please ensure children are collected promptly at the end of a session, where applicable.

9. Behaviour

We aim to provide a respectful, patient and creative environment for all children.

Disruptive or unsafe behaviour is not tolerated. If a child does not respond to a warning, we will contact the parent/guardian and ask for the child to be collected.

If disruptive behaviour continues across repeated sessions, we may need to advise that the child is unable to continue attending the class. Where this happens, we will discuss it with you directly and handle it sensitively.

10. Health, Medical Information and Emergencies

At enrolment, we ask for information about allergies, medical conditions, medication, emergency contacts and pickup authorisation.

It’s important this information is accurate and kept up to date. Please let us know as soon as possible if anything changes.

We do not provide food or drink during classes, and we do not use latex products.

We check craft materials against any allergies you’ve told us about and will adjust materials where needed.

In the event of an accident or medical concern, we will provide first aid as appropriate and, depending on severity, contact the parent/guardian and/or emergency services.

Full details of how we handle this information are set out in our Privacy Policy and, where applicable, a separate medical/emergency information process at enrolment.

11. Safeguarding

Paper Scissors Squad takes safeguarding seriously.

[Your Full Legal Name] holds an Enhanced DBS certificate and Level 3 Safeguarding training. Copies are available on our Legal & Info page.

12. Photography and Video

We may take individual photos during a class to share with you as the parent/guardian.

We may occasionally take group photos or video to use on our website or social media, but only with your specific permission, given at enrolment or otherwise in writing.

You’re free to decline this and your child can still attend.

13. Clothing and Belongings

Classes can get messy, so please send your child in older clothes, or clothes you don’t mind getting marked.

Please leave phones, other electronic devices, toys and other valuables at home. We recommend bringing a labelled water bottle.

Paper Scissors Squad is not responsible for the loss of, or damage to, personal belongings brought to a class.

14. Venues

Classes may take place at various venues as the business grows.

Where a venue has its own rules, for example around parking, access or outside food, we will let you know in advance of the class.

15. Our Responsibility to You

We will deliver classes with reasonable care and skill, in line with the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under UK law.

16. Complaints

If you’re ever unhappy with anything, please get in touch by email in the first instance at Paperscissorssquad@gmail.com, and we’ll do our best to resolve things quickly.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes in how we run classes or changes in the law.

The current version will always be available on our website, and will apply to any booking made after it is published.

18. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

These Terms and Conditions have been prepared with the assistance of AI research tools and are intended as a helpful starting point. They are not a substitute for advice from a qualified solicitor. We’d recommend having them reviewed by a solicitor familiar with UK consumer law and children’s activity businesses before publishing, particularly given the personal and safeguarding-related information involved.
